Dear Destiny Friends,
Nothing great has ever been achieved with ease. Many factors contribute to birth success, and they include discipline, hard work, determination, focus, concentration, and most importantly favor and the grace-factor.
Concentration and focus as key components are interrelated, but distinct. While focus is the deliberate and intentional direction of our attention towards a specific goal or task, concentration is the ability to sustain our attention and remain focused on a task or goal over a period of time.
One may be wondering which is more important. Well, in my opinion, none is more important than the other; it all depends on what you want to achieve. You cannot concentrate without being focused and you cannot focus without concentrating. Both work hand in glove. Focus is about choosing where to concentrate on, while concentration is about focusing deeply on a task.
Focus is about intention. Concentration is what you do with your intention. Focus is where you choose to concentrate. Concentration means processing a task deeply, like losing yourself in the complexity of a string of computer code. Focus means prioritizing small and large goals, like doing everything you can to complete your undergraduate degree with good grades. Concentration is about directing your energy to tasks.
Real focus and concentration entail sacrifice. If you want to know someone, pay attention to what they spend their time on. It is only a person without direction or foolish people that spend a substantial amount of time on frivolity and spend minor time on substantial times.
To understand how concentration and focus work, understanding the principle of opportunity cost is very important. In economics, we are taught about the concept of opportunity cost whereby you gain something and lose another.
It’s instructive to note that you must sacrifice whatever you love. You can’t love someone without sacrificing your time and resources. You can’t love education without investing time to study. You can’t love your business and not spend time investing and learning about trade and strategies.
To know how powerful concentration works, you will be so focused on your project like a treasure. This is because real concentration means sacrificing all other activities for a single goal, directing all your energy, thought, and emotions towards the single goal, and sustaining the passion for days, months and years.
In conclusion, regardless of what you are working on and your industry, if you are desirous of succeeding in life, consider practicing concentration while being focused on craft, and you will see the level of impact and tremendous success you will experience.
